Final Model

This is my final concept
A fruit platter from ivory board with 0.5 mm thickness
ten spray painted with sterling silver and classic gloss enamel orange coloured.
This platter is foldable whenever not in use and is strong enough for the foor.
It's flexible and strong

Mock up models 2

1. Back and front

2. Usage of 4 pieces only.. too narrow and how it would hold the bottom

3. That's how i get the foot but it's too big.. and a bit.. unstylish

4. The hexagon.. it has to have even sidess to get it folded perfecly
This is the perfect sizing.. it's not too bulky or too standing
.
5. Trying to figure out how base can supports perfectly. Giving a hole here but was a mistake

6. That's the base, adding a little hole on the base works! it stucked them together!!!

7.This is the back view of my concept

8.This is all the parts, the plate and the base

I changed my mind
I'd rather do something that uses more of the paper's advantage.
I'm trying to find how paper fold and adhesives can be combined together
to reveal a useful form. Keep looking
for foldable pattern...

Eco Friendly Room Divider

They are beautifully exotic and eco fwenly ;p

Bending wood

This is a part of new technology,
I think this was firstly introduced by Ray eames (bending plywood)
However this designs are not done by them
This is Aswoon's Wave line of Wood Furniture
I know that materials are not supposed to be forced and it has to show its qualities.
Yet in these design, the materials are very forced (wood to be bent) however it reveals the qualities and the strong look in wood. Splendid and remarkable
Below is a room divider and a table

Room Divider Screen from Farm 21 - the 'Green' Folding Screen

Wooww :x
hey hey hey that's so nice
What it lacks is just they are not from paper hahaha
but still, a good resource and new technology

a Tri-Part Screen made from panels of laminated rye straw in resin and acrylic

Room Divider

This is a website where I found many room dividers. It's not from paper but can let me have some feelings about room divider. I'll try to learn what's important in a room divider.

The first impression I get is that it needs to be foldable to saves space for transportation (I guess) or for storage. Storage and transportation becomes important point.

Thinking on Concept 2

I wake up today
I am still searching for what is gifted from paper...
I went back to the point where I was lost.

I know that shoji screen is already a design and it is made to tear cause of the earthquake (Rina told me)
And Shigeru Ban has already made a room divider from paper as well.
But, a room divider would be a great piece of concept.

Many of the students living in Sydney (especially in the city) has their apartment with a room divider.
It's used to let someone be able to live in the living room with some privacy
(and save up renting fee)
Even without anyone living in the living room,
most of the user use it for dividing the living room into spaces. Dining space, TV watching space, playing space and so on.

From my point of view. Since it is taking up space in the living room. It has to be a real piece of beauty, a user would not be bothered having something in their living room that looks ugly that makes a living space to be in a depressed situation.
So here's my points:
It does not need to be strong
It needs to be portable (in case of he's moving or needs to get out)
It (may) be lightweight
It must have a beauty in the product :):)
I'll come back once I get the idea

Thinking on Concepts

I know that design is different from art.
However, I believe that art gave birth to design.
So whichever way I have to go,
I want to put artistic effort in every design
as far as possible...
To manufacture artistic felt design

Last week, my concepts were not accepted.
After hearing the explanations,
even myself would not accept my own design
it does not have any "strong characteristics" at all
and it even crashes the material's performance...

So, I have a thought, now
my paper design would be something that is lightweight,
does not need strength but beauty..
Wonder wad can it be :] :]

Peter Callesen

This review has actually been done by Rina
I'm not sure when but I'm very sure it has been done before...
I found it accidentally on the net and once again, it takes me to the point where I am amazed with his works :):) If you would like to explore more, please visit him on this site
coz I cant upload every single of his splendid works

Richard Sweeney

It's him again, Richard Sweeney, I've talked about him before but when I researched, I found more of his work. I cant just not be amazedddd... it's extraordinary
And it's paper!!!
Rina told me last week that I'm supposed to celebrate paper, to show off paper, how rich they are to be used in design and how beautiful they are..
And, I really think that Richard is gorgeous in making use of paper's characteristics to the maximum. And it allows them to be mesmerizing in the same time.. even if it's just cut and fold.
Just one thing I'm still curious about
I'll find out how things like that can be manufactured

Interesting paper folding sites

F U N
This is a site that has so many cute paper folding.
And here are some examples.
I know that it is not really related to this project but since i'm so attached to it,
lemme post it ;p
And they have how-to-dos and templates in their site
