Technology in bottle water

Filter in bottle water does not need to be huge.. as seen here
There is even filtering straw. So we just need to put water inside the bottle, then, the filter works while you are sipping through the straw

Homesick

Just today... I was alone and I suddenly want to look at the photos in the past and I feel like I'm missing home.. listening to Michael Bubble-Home. Feel so down, so blue.. and so far.

And just when I was dazing out in my room I suddenly think that it's something that happen often to someone living far away from family. AND, by a chance, my target market is, as well.

She lives alone, and far, with so much works to do, she must feel this feeling sometimes. Even though she gets so much privacy, it must be lonely at home still..

yummy!

This is not a product.
It's a fRuit salad
I really like how freshness is captured there!
The combination of fruits colour, shape and melon's outer skin is deeply captivating.
I hope I can convey this feeling in my design.
By the way today was my presentation and I decided to move forward with a water bottle with a filter.
I will scan my concepts presented today later

I want a healthy homemade juice

This is my sketch, about what inspire me right now. An office woman who wants to lead a healthy life won't be voluntarily agree to preserved food & beverages (the ones with loads of preservative ingredients)
I want to design a bottle (which the user keeps) which is able to contain juices with pulps (usually the homemade juices still have them, fresh) and feels nice when used

What is her need?

My target market must be pretty much often going to the bookshop like Dymocks or Kinokuniya.
I know it's the digital age, however, she would still have hard copy documents to organize at home or at work. I keep on looking at stuffs. "What kind of paper organizer she would be interested in buying?" "Will she buy a folder with plastic sleeves or would she rather have them in stacks" "What kind of pen she would bring everywhere?(her business pen)" "which business card holders is her style" So I went to those store and browse and think myself as being "her" and see from "her eyes". Would she have a lot of things at home such as accessories, porcelaine small doll and stuffs. There is this new japanese doll in dymocks being sold for charm. And so I began thinking, where will she locate that kind of accesories in her house. And also, I was thinking about her very crucial daily needs, such as food and water. She won't buy bottled water mount franklin every single working day. It would make her go broke. And so, she needs to have her own water bottle, which does not have to only contains water. For food container.. will it be trouble some for her to carry a big box every day? I was browsing and here was something that's interesting. Biodegradable Food Containers. Made out of 100% corn resin! Thats fully recycleable and useful that she does not have to bring it home and wash it every time, and still environmentally friendly.

I really like how designer managed to create a very appealing negative spaces

Japanese Bowl

Reference

This bowl looks so nice just by the negative space created by clear line on the edges.
Then the contrast from the paint on the outer side of the bowl created gives it a solid feeling.
And what's special.. it looks so original

Unique Bookshelf

by Martino Gamper at Design Miami/Basel
This bookshelf is very interesting...
How it minimize the shape to only rectangular boxes attached to each other and just how the designer managed to give a meaning to the negative spacings is just so artistic..
If my target market would see this, it would be her best choice of her house furniture

New woman

What we call a new woman can be found exclusively starting from gen Y.
Because of the revolution in gender role woman are becoming more independent and more decisive on their purpose of life and how they live their life.
When previously a woman is defined to be a mother in charge of every household and taking care of their children, nowadays, we have changed. They think more about career, and decide whether or not they WANT to have what kind of family or children. Just like this lady..

And here is a quotation of fact sheets:
  • "By 2025 women in the UK will own 60% of the nation’s wealth, and by 2020 only 47% of the UK’s millionaires will be men
  • Women are increasingly the main breadwinner, earning more than their partners in 21% of today’s couples
  • In the US women are opening their businesses at a rate that is double that of men
  • More women are entering the stock market - they now constitute 47% of all investors, according to the US National Association of Securities Dealers
  • Spending power of women is 50% more than it was 20 years ago
  • Women buy 68% of new cars and 65% of new tyres in the US. The automotive industry is responding by designing cars by women for women, for example the Volvo concept car."

That's how female has grown in social economic throughout the years.
However, woman who is wanting to get married, still have a high expectation of men.
Sometimes or not, we expect men to still be the breadwinner.. and not just clinging on the working females

My Target Market

From what I think, my "target market" will have all of this in possession most of the time.
Whether at work, home or outside work since she's a workaholic. Everything she has must be stylish yet functional. A pen and business card holder is a must! Since everyone she meets might be future client or future work relation. She needs something to organize her very busy life, and how to interact with all her clients

Sign of being workaholic

This is a summary from an article

How to Tell if You’re a Workaholic?

*You only talk about work.

*You’re constantly worried about the future.
*You’re always thinking about ways to make money.
*You consistently choose work over family.
*You forget about non-work appointments and household tasks.
*You get anxious when you’re not working.
*You firmly believe that you can’t get it done right unless you do it yourself.
*You hide how much work you do.

Gen Y & Internet Life

Gen Y is very closely related with computerization and on-line (internet) life.
Having a profile located in facebook, friendster or myspace is very important for Gen Y
From reading this site,
I realize that we, Gen Y, are very much doing the "self branding" ourselves over the internet.
We say that internet is making us vulnerable to the privacy threat
YET we are exposing ourselves
(Giving out statements about our age, gender, status and interests to someone we hardly even know in real life= your facebook or myspace who is this just-added friends)
And strangely, you might be considered out-of-date if you do not have Messenger or internet profile. And that's how attached we are to the internet life..
